the campfire's roaring. the sun has just gone down. the hour of mosquitoes is nearly over. the soft strumming of guitars begin to fill the night sky. add the (mini-)djembe and the voices of God's people. in the distance, tiny glowing orbs start to appear in the dry grass surrounding the campsite, lighting up the darkness for but a few short seconds. multitudes of orbs glow all over the place, surrounding the campsite with what seemed like earthly stars. it was like the heavens came down to earth and surrounded us.
so a lot's been going on since getting back from retreat. it's been so hectic, havn't really had much time to collect my thoughts and what not... but i guess when i look back on everything now, all i can say is that God is truly amazing. the paragraph above describes just one of the ways that God reaffirms His Sovereignty. in the excitement of seeing fireflies for pretty much the first time, i grab my camera and try to take a picture, only to find that there are just some things that you can't take pictures of. oddly enough, sometimes it's the most beautiful things on this earth that can't be captured in a Kodak moment. the same thing can be said of the stars in the sky on that night and the night after. i just find it fascinating that in our generation and in our world today, technology is EVERYTHING. everyone (including me btw) is always trying to get the newest computer, the coolest digital camera, the cutest and slickest iPod, and the list goes on. yet, when it comes to seeing and truly appreciating God's creation, technology just comes up short, and the moment becomes etched in your mind rather than printed on a sheet of paper or projected on some computer screen.
i'll blog more about actual tent-campin later. just some food for thought for the moment. :)
